Ambrose GOSSETT

Martha Saylor wrote to add the following information to The Family of Gossett about Ambrose GOSSETT and his family. Ambrose is found in Part II: Chapter Six. Descendants of John Gossett of Ohio.

"Ambrose Gossett (Joseph Ambrose GOSSETT) was my great, great grandfather. He was married first to Sophia CHANEY in 1832. In 1842 she passed away from consumption. After a couple of years he married Malinda McCoy. From marriage to Sophia, death certificate of their son John Levi GOSSETT states his mother's name was Mary CHANEY. I have a copy of Ambrose's death announcement and a copy of marriage record. She is thought to be the daughter of Jessey CHANEY, the son of Rev. Edward CHANEY."

* There were two John L Gossetts living in the Highland County, Ohio, area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The one referred to here is John Levi Gossett, son of Ambrose Gossett. This John L is about 10 years older than the John L who is the son of Milton Gossett. John Levi married Roxanna Heath and John L married Maggie Carle. Care should be taken when researching these two as John Levi is frequently seen as John L.
